Welcome to Calvary Baptist Church!

We are so glad that you are interested in our church. Here is what to expect if you visit us on a Sunday morning as well as give you an overview of Calvary Baptist Church.

Sunday Morning

When Should I Arrive?

Our Worship Service begins at 11 AM and usually lasts around 90 minutes. Feel free to come a few minutes early for coffee and fellowship!

What Are The Sermons Like?

We are committed to expository, Christ-centered preaching. We work through whole books of the Bible week by week, seeking to understand the meaning of each text on its own terms in order to rightly apply it to our lives. We believe God speaks through his Word in order to build up his church.

What Is The Worship Like?

We are committed to the congregational singing of Gospel-rich songs. This means first of all that we have an intentionally congregational focus: the singing portion of our worship service is not a performance but rather a participation with one another, “teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in our hearts to God” (Colossians 3:16). To that same end, we sing songs from a range of styles, old and new hymns as well as modern worship songs, whose lyrics are deeply Biblical and theological, devotional as well as doctrinal.

Our worship service is structured around the Word of God and prayer, in the tradition of the Reformed liturgy. In addition to the sermon and the songs, our service includes a Call to Worship, a time of corporate Confession of Sin (sometimes a Confession of Faith using a historic creed of the Church), Scripture readings, and a Pastoral Prayer.

What about giving?

We never expect guests to give. We do have a time of offering during the service. During this time, our members give as an act of worship.

Is There Childcare?

Parents are encouraged to keep their children with them for the service – we don’t mind the sound of children!
However, our nursery is available for ages 0-3 and we are happy to provide childcare for you during the service.

Wednesday Evening

Please join us on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 for Bible study and fellowship! We are currently reading through The Lord of Psalm 23 by David Gibson.
