Here at Calvary, we are making every effort to build a church that is based on what the Bible teaches about the church. To that end, we pray that Calvary Baptist Church will be known throughout by these six priorities:
Gospel-Centered: We at Calvary believe that the gospel is for believers and unbelievers. The same grace that saves us is the same grace that keeps us. Therefore, our ministry endeavors will never leave the gospel nor assume the gospel.
Rom 1:15-16; Gal 1:6-9; Gal 3:1-5; Eph 2:8-10; 1 Cor 15:2-4
Biblically Shaped: We at Calvary believe the Bible is sufficient for all matters pertaining to faith and practice. The teaching and preaching of Scripture must shape our church. All of our ministry efforts will be informed by Scripture because the sum of God’s word is true. Therefore, our ministry endeavors will be saturated with biblical content.
2 Pet 1:3; 2 Cor 3:4-6; 2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Tim 3:15-17; Ps 119:160
Deliberate Discipleship: We believe it is God’s will for believers to not only believe the gospel but grow in maturity and conformity to Christ. Believers endeavor to do this together primarily through the local church. Therefore, we at Calvary are actively seeking to make and mature disciples.
Rom 8:29; Col 1:28; Eph 5:1-2; Eph 4:11-16; Matt 28:19-20
Sacrificial Love: We at Calvary believe the people of God have always been the means in which God uses to bless the world. Loving our neighbor is a Christian duty. Therefore, we at Calvary will seek to love our neighbors through service in the community that reflects the love of God.
Gen 12:1-3; Jer 29:4-7; Isa 61:1-4; Matt 22:39; Luke 10:25-37
Absolute Dependence on God: We at Calvary believe that in all things we are totally dependent upon God. We are dependent upon God for life and salvation. Therefore, we at Calvary will pray earnestly for God to do what only He can do.
Matt 6:25-26; 1 Cor 3:6; Eph 2:8; Rom 9:1-24; 1 Cor 15:10; Phil 2:12-13; Phil 4:13; Phil 4:6-7; Col 1:29; 1 Thess 5:17; Heb 4:16
Exaltation of God: We at Calvary believe that people were created to glorify God. We were saved for the praise and glory of God. We are to magnify who He is. The ultimate display of God’s glory is found in the person of Christ. Therefore, we at Calvary will seek to live for God’s glory and do what they were created to do – glorify God by magnifying who Jesus Christ is.
